First time? No worries, I’ve got you covered.

Customer or Client?

how do I know which one I am?

THIS DECISION IS ABSOLUTELY UP TO YOU WHAT KIND OF RELATIONSHIP YOU WANT WITH AN AGENT. LET’S UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO — A CUSTOMER IS A PERSON WHO WANTS TO BUY REAL ESTATE BUT IS NOT REPRESENTED BY AN AGENT. A CUSTOMER CAN BECOME A CLIENT ONLY AFTER SIGNING AN EXCLUSIVE BUYERS AGENCY AGREEMENT.

A CLIENT is in a binding contractual relationship with a Realtor or Broker. This is documented by a formal signed Buyer Representation Agreement and dictates that when an agent represents a Buyer in purchasing a property listed by another agent he or she is obligated to work on behalf of the client’s best interest which includes a promise to negotiate the best price and terms for their client and utilize all their knowledge and skill.

As a CUSTOMER, a person can expect the agent to provide all information honestly but can’t expect him or her to work in their best interest as the agent doesn’t represent them without a contractual agreement.
